Claude Begle

Born in Switzerland, with a PhD in Economics, a Masters in Law and a Masters in International Relations, Claude Béglé’s international career began in Nepal, Lebanon and Zimbabwe, where he worked for the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then for the International Red Cross. From there he joined the Nestle Group and continued his international career for a further fourteen years, working in many different countries. As Managing Director of Philip Morris in Poland, he was responsible for one of the largest privatizations and foreign investments ever made in Eastern Europe, whilst continuing to run the operational business.

In 1997, he decided to join the postal and logistics sector, working for TNT Express Worldwide, The Dutch Post Group, as a Vice President. In 1999, he was appointed CEO of GeoPost International Management & Development GmbH and, at the same time, Chairman of DPD GmbH, a pan-European road transport franchise system, both subsidiaries of the French Group La Poste. On joining the German Post (DPWN) in October 2005, Claude Béglé took over responsibility for DHL Express Germany and DHL Central Europe, with a revenue of over EUR 5.6 billion and more than 33,000 employees. In May 2007 he was nominated Executive Vice President of DPWN. From April 1st 2009, Dr. Béglé is Chairman of the Board of Swiss Post.
